Janice Steek’s Cranberry Bog Bars

 

Oven at 375°

 

1 ¼ C butter, softened, divided

31/2 C old-fashioned oats, divided

1 ½ C packed brown sugar, divided

1 C all purpose flour

½ C finely chopped pecans

1 16 oz can whole cranberry sauce

 

In a large mixing bowl, cream 1 C butter and 1 C brown sugar.

Stir in 2 ½ C oats and all of the flour.

Press into a greased 13 x 9 baking pan.

Spread with cranberry sauce.

 

In a microwave safe bowl, melt remaining butter.  Stir in pecans and remaining sugar and oats.  Sprinkle over the cranberry sauce.

 

Bake 25-30 minutes, until lightly browned.

 

Cool and cut into bars.
